Crabgrass
Crabgrass often mistaken for a weed, is actually an annual grass. It usually grows in areas of poor soil where salt and sand build up. Along the edge of streets and driveways. Crabgrass germinates in early spring. Applications of our TURFPRO Corn Gluten and topdressing with compost or with our compost pellets and overseeding with help reduce crabgrass.
Core Aeration
Core Aeration is the process of mechanically removing small cores of soil from the lawn using an aeration machine. Aeration provides a number of benefits.
- Reduces and relieves soil compaction
- Encourages deep healthy roots
- Removes excessive thatch
- Reduces weed infestations
- Helps eliminate drought stress
- Reduces insect and disease
- Increases the uptake of fertilizers
- Stimulate new growth
Rejuvenate with Compost
Our compost comes in a pelletized form. Allowing for easy application using a fertilizer spreader. Once the pellets become exposed to water, they begin to swell and settle into the root zone of the grass. Eventually producing a thick and healthier lawn. Benefits of compost.
- Increases turf density
- Discourages weed infestations
- Optimizes seed germination
- Improves soil quality
- Increases microbial activity
- Contains micro-organisms to fight disease
Grubs
Known as the European Chafer Beetle. The adult stage of the beetle emerges from the soil in early July and begins mating. You will notice them flying around the treetops mating. New eggs hatch in the soil and the larval stage of the grub begins feeding on the roots of the grass until usually late October. Don’t wait until you see lawn damage. Treat your lawn for grubs in late August and September.
Chinch Bugs
These small insects have wings and look similar to black flies. Chinch bugs live on the surface of the soil and eat the stems of the grass blades. A lawn damaged by chinch bugs has the appearance of the grass blades being shaved off. It is sometimes confused with annual bluegrass.
